Dr Sonya Suri, Director at Bharat Re-Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd. and consultant to NBFCs, is a dynamic professional whose career spans across finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. A seasoned business evangelist and consultant, she has built a reputation for her strategic vision, leadership, and dedication to uplifting organizations and people alike.
Born into a distinguished Army family, she drew her earliest inspiration from her father, General A. L. Suri, who bravely served India in the 1965 and 1971 wars. His selfless commitment to the nation instilled in her a deep sense of duty toward community and humanity—a principle that continues to guide her personal and professional life.
Beyond her corporate achievements, she is a true humanitarian who has been devoted to social service since 1990. She runs a school for underprivileged children aged 3–5 years in a Harijan Basti in New Delhi, preparing them for formal education and a brighter future. At Arya Samaj Mandir in Defence Colony, she established free homoeopathy and allopathy dispensaries, equipped with testing facilities such as blood pressure machines, glucometers, and electrocardiographs, ensuring access to healthcare for the needy.
Her philanthropic reach extends widely, supporting the UN Food Programme (India) by contributing proceeds from handmade food items, regularly assisting the New Delhi Leprosy Colony, and spearheading relief efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic by providing food and essentials daily to slum children and leprosy patients. Recognising the challenges faced by women, she also distributes over 50,000 sanitary pads monthly to underprivileged women and girls, fostering dignity and hygiene.
